In a study involving 154 obese adults, a daily intake of 2,700 mg of DHA over ten weeks they demonstrated a noteworthy 5.6% increase in the omega-3 index—a blood marker associated with a reduced risk of sudden heart-related death. In comparison, the same daily dose of EPA led to a more modest 3.3% increase in the omega-3 index for the participants.

Additionally, DHA exhibited a more significant reduction in blood triglycerides (13.3% compared to EPA’s 11.9%) and boosted “good” HDL cholesterol by 7.6%, in contrast to a slight decrease observed with EPA.

A study involving 27 women who took 3,000 mg of DHA daily for a week demonstrated a significant 23% reduction in muscle soreness after performing bicep curls compared to the placebo group. This underscores the potential role of DHA in alleviating the discomfort associated with strenuous exercise.
